Mission Statement:
Empowering Voters.
Defending Democracy.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.

Our volunteers work year-round to register new voters, host community forums and debates, and provide voters with election information they need. We engage at the local and state levels on legislative priorities and efforts to improve our elections and protect our democracy.

Get Involved

Little time? No problem. Your support of LWVSB solely through dues and donations is critical and much appreciated. Want to get more involved? We have many activities and opportunities. Check out our calendar. Join a committee/team. Meetings are open to all, and most are on Zoom. You are welcome to attend even if you are not ready to be an active committee member. Come to events (maybe even help out)-- community educational forums, candidate/issues forums, voter registration, membership drives, meet and greets, protests and more. Participate in program planning, assist with publicity and outreach (e.g., website/newsletter), and/or observe and/or represent our League at local government meetings. Let us know (president@lwvsantabarbara.org) if you have an interest in taking on a leadership role--as a committee chair or co-chair, Board member, officer, or Leadership Team member. We would love to have you join us!

Although women is in our name, the League is not just for women. We welcome anyone who wants to be involved as a supporter, an active member, or a leader.

Our tax ID # is 77-0535840. Donations to LWVSB are 100% tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law and 20% of dues are tax deductible.
